Orientation & Language Courses

Orientation Program

A two-week orientation program is offered prior to the start of lectures and courses. It provides assistance and advice for managing everyday life, including arrangements for bank account, health insurance, residence permit, housing, and enrollment. Students have the opportunity to meet faculty members and visit laboratories of the participating institutions. In addition, the orientation program informs students about computing and library facilities, the city and university of Göttingen, sports facilities, and cultural events.

German Classes

During the two weeks of orientation, intensive language courses in German are offered in cooperation with Lektorat Deutsch als Fremdsprache. The language courses are offered on the beginner's and two advanced levels. They are optional and intended to facilitate the start in Göttingen. Additional language courses (optional, 2 hours per week) accompany the program.

All language courses are optional and free of tuition fees for students of the Neuroscience Program.
